Guided Sea Fishing - Cod

Whilst I am quite new to cod fishing, I have found a few marks off Southwold in Suffolk, where I have had some very good winter days, catching fish to over double figures, in bags of up to 20 fish a day. To date I have only worm fished at anchor for them in this very coloured water, although in the summer months they are apparently quite abundant off most of the wrecks off the Norfolk & Suffolk coast, so if you fancy a bit of pioneering then come along !

Success whilst fishing with SAS

The BoatWe use a trailered Warrior 165, with a 75hp Mariner main engine & Johnson 4hp back up engine. The boat has a twin electrical systems, 1 VHF & 1 DSC radio, sat nav chart plotter & fish finder / depth sounder. We also carry full safety gear including a compass, lifejackets, flares, spare anchors & warp. This is towed to the relevant harbour & launched / recovered with our 4wd truck, fitted with an electric winch.
Take a look at the Cod Fishing Gallery to see our boat and the instruments we use.

We are not trying to run a full charter operation, taking 10 or 12 anglers, we are operating a small boat for a maximum of 2 anglers. This way we can tailor the fishing to suit your preferences and give a full personal service with tuition if required.
TackleWe supply all tackle, (although you are more than welcome to bring your own if you prefer) all bait, hot drinks and soups, food, (if required) fuel for boat and transport to and from harbour.

The rods we use for cod are Shimano 8ft 6inch speedmaster 20/30’s and the reels are TLD 15 lever drags loaded with 30lb braid. Cod end tackle consists of 50lb mono leaders onto which 2 or 3 12 inch long wire spreader booms are tied, with 4 to 12 inch snoods, to various sized medium to heavy gauge wire hooks. Leads used are from 4 to 12oz dependent upon tide conditions.

Baits:

During the winter baits will be lugworms, squid & possibly sprats, fished either on their own or in various cocktails. We can also experiment with various shellfish, ie mussels, cockles etc.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
